Tyres in Bath

Tyres3171The fact that tyres wear gradually can make it very difficult to identify the reduction in performance, so it's best to have them checked regularly and preferably by an expert. GCS carry's a comprehensive stock of tyres and we offer a free tyre, oil and water check to all of our customers.

Our fitting service utilises the latest tyre changing and balancing equipment, and our tyre suppliers run two deliveries per day, so we are rarely out of stock. We can also provide steering geometry checks and mend punctures while you wait.

Tyre condition and pressure is hugely important to your vehicles performance and safety. As you may be aware, there are laws in place to govern all aspects of your tyres condition; most important of these is the minimum tread depth. The legal limit for minimum depth of the tread on your tyres is 1.6 millimetres, across the central ¾ of the tread going around the complete circumference of the tyre.

A common mistake that people often make when checking their tyres is to just check the outside quarter of the tyre. At GCS, we advise all of our customers to regularly check their tyres and turn the wheel of the car when checking, to ensure that the central ¾ of the tread is visible.

Incorrect tyre pressure can also shorten the life of your tyre, and reduce its effectiveness in providing safety and fuel efficiency. At GCS we can either check your tyre pressures for you, or if you are checking them yourself, we advise that they are checked every two weeks.

The tyre pressure is measured by calculating the amount of air that has been pumped into the inner lining of your tyre in pounds force (PSI) or BAR pressure. The manufacturer of your vehicle specifies the suitable pressure.
