In most cases, your air conditioning system isn't covered by manufacturers servicing schedules and the refrigerant gas that is used to operate the system depletes over time. However, if you do have a problem with your air conditioning, most problems of this type can be put right fairly easily by a leak check of your system followed by a complete refill of your air conditioning refrigerant.

As small ‘O' ring seals in your air conditioning system will dry out during the winter months through lack of use, we always advise our customers to turn on their air conditioning intermittently during the winter months to prevent this happening.

Alternatively, if you detect a strange smell when you put the air conditioning on, then this could be a sign of bacteria build up in your system. As systems become older they can start to develop bacteria, and even mould or fungi. This grows predominately behind the dash panel on the evaporator and leads to very unpleasant odours. In a situation like this, GCS can provide an anti-bacterial treatment that destroys the bacteria growth and leaves your car smelling fresh again.
